TZS is dedicated to wildlife conservation and protecting the natural environments in cooperation with Reid Park Zoo (RPZ). The Society provides quality service and support to Reid Park Zoo and the community through education, financial resources, and public awareness.

The Mission of Reid Park Zoo is to encourage human commitment to the conservation of biological diversity; to provide a healthy and enriching environment for a collection of animals from around the world; and to provide educational and fun experiences for visitors of all ages.

Our Organization
Founded in 1975 and officially incorporated in 1976, Tucson Zoological Society is a membership-based 501 (c) (3) non-profit corporation that supports the city-owned Reid Park Zoo. TZS is dedicated to enhancing the value of Reid Park Zoo itself to the community.
Reid Park Zoo is a city-owned facility operated, maintained and administrated through the City of Tucson Parks and Recreation Department. Established informally in 1965 by Gene Reid, then the Director of Parks and Recreation, the zoo officially became a part of the City of Tucson in 1967. It exhibits exotic animals from all over the globe in natural and appropriate environments. The animals provide the spark necessary to deliver conservation and habitat protection messages.
TZS is governed by a Board of Directors. The Board selects Officers, agents and employees of the Society and prescribes their duties and responsibilities.
