Bench Sponsorship
The Reid Park Zoo invites you to support the Zoo by participating in the bench sponsorship program. Through this program the Zoo receives a needed bench, and the donor gets their personal recognition plaque mounted on the bench. The Zoo bench sponsorship is available to anyone wishing to make a donation of $1,500 or more in support of the Zoo. In return for the donation, a bench with a donor’s plaque will be placed on the Zoo grounds.
Bench Construction
The bench is a 5 ft. long park bench, made of 2 ½” by 6″ recycled plastic slats. The slats are made of 100% post consumer U.V. stabilized high-density polyethylene with powder coated galvanized steel tubing frames.
Plaque
The 12″ x 3″ bronze plaque can hold up to three lines of text (approximately 28 letter/spaces on each line) which are done in raised lettering. Wording on the plaque carries a few restrictions. We ask that 1) no dates be used and, 2) that “in memory of” not be requested. We suggest the use of “sponsored by,” “donated by,” “in honor of,” “dedicated to,” “in celebration of,” or another special phrase. The finished plaque is recessed in one of the back slats of the bench.
Cost
The donation for a bench sponsorship is $1,500. The plaque will be in place for the lifetime of the bench, or a minimum of five years. (If the bench is damaged and needs replacing within the first five years, the Zoo will be responsible for the replacement).
There is approximately a two to three month waiting period for the bench and plaque to be completed. We will cooperative regarding the placement of the benches. However, the final decision must be made by the Zoo.
